SAMPLING AND TESTING

Tewhey Associates has extensive experience in the proper protocols for the collection and handling of water quality samples (e.g., from wells, surface water, effluent discharges, etc.). The technical staff are knowledgeable in the selection of appropriate USEPA and Maine DEP analytical methods and in the preparation of QA Plans. We have worked with most of the private labs located in Maine and northern New England and with the Maine Department of Human Services laboratory facility. Our monitoring/sampling experience has included analyses for heavy metals, inorganics, pesticides, PCBs, and, volatile and semivolatile organic compounds. We have had extensive experience with the analysis and data interpretation for petroleum hydrocarbons, PAH compounds and pentchlorophenol (PCP). We compile data in a tabulated format and often present the results in terms of graphs and figures which precent a clear and concise understanding of the study findings. The size of our monitoring projects has ranged from one time sampling for small Phase 2 Environmental Assessments associated with property transfer to multiple round, multi media sampling at large industrial RFI sites. Some examples of our monitoring experience are provided below.

  • Monitoring and Data Evaluation at an RFI Site in Sanford, Maine.

  • Monitoring and Data Evaluation at a rock quarry landfill site in Rockland, Maine.

  • Monitoring and Data Evaluation of a remedial groundwater pump and treat system at a petroleum contaminated site in Bar Mills Maine.

  • Monitoring and Data Evaluation of a remedial groundwater pump and treat system at a former manufacturing facility in Lisbon, Maine.
